It really depends on what you want to do with the pistol and your own personal preference. DA pistols usually make good carry items, but for the most part the triggers are mushy and don't lend a hand towards precision shooting. At the same time, a DA unit usually raises less eyebrows if it were used in a defensive situation vs say a 2lb SA match unit. Either way, both can be very fun. So get your hands on a DA at some point and give it a shot. Hell it may feel more comfortable to you.

Welll.... yes kinda..
Single action would be a 1911
xd, glock, M&P are all single action in a sense.
Only real Double action semis would be some of the CZ's and i know para makes some DA 1911s.
