Default looking for a new handgun

I am wanting to buy a handgun but really dont know which ones are a good value. I want a 9mm because of the cheap target rounds. It may sound dumb but i really would like to buy an american made gun. I have been looking at Kel Tec guns and the smith and wesson sw9ve or something like that. Does anyone have any knowledge of these guns or have any other sugestions.

I got myself a Ruger SR9, American made 9mm and it seems to get good reviews across the internet. Mine has been great to me so far, of course I don't shoot hundreds of rounds a week.

I wouldnt shoot that much either thats why I dont want to dump a ton of money on a gun I might get tired of if a few hundred rounds later.

I think I paid $450 for mine. I didn't shop around for a lot of different brands, I just picked the SR9 because my Dad shoots one and he recommended it. So, I don't know how that price compares to other brands.

I have the Smith & Wesson M&P9 9mm pistol. Have about 5k rounds through it and not one issue. and it has a 17+1 round clip.

I like Springfield XDs and XDMs and Smith & Wesson M&P for midrange handguns. Much cheaper than that (Taurus, S&W Sigma, and Ruger) and I don't like the fell and confidence I get from them. Working on getting a Sig next month but wait until you decide if you're into guns or not before you pony up $900 for a handgun.

You got a few options..
my suggestions would be to find a model in one of these three makes and see what you like better.

Glock
S&W MP
SPringfield armory XD

i got me a glock 26 a few weeks ago and LOVE it. this thing stacks even the cheapest rounds. i'm not a fan of the safety (or lack of one lol) but the gun is definately fun to shoot.

I bought my wife a S&W SD9 last year and it has been a good gun thus far. I don't like it near as much as my Springfield XD (.40cal) though. Trigger pull on the SD9 is a bit longer than what I like but all in all a decent gun for the price. My wife really likes it so that is what counts.
