Default Light recommendations?

I just picked up a XD40 with a 4" barrel. I want to mount a light to its rail for home protection. Do you guys have any recommendations for me? I'm guessing something LED, but don't wanna buy junk.

Streamlight TLR-3. $70 and comparable to Sure Fire for half the price. That's what I am going to buy once I make it through the holidays.

I have the TLR-3 on my FNP-9 and I am very happy with it. Great light for the money.

Streamlight is hard to beat for the price.
I had 2 buddys a good ways out in the woods last night that were tracking a wounded deer. Bout 2 hours in both their lights ate batteries. So i get a phone call that they need some light asap. So i dropped what i was doin and headed their way.
They were 600yds out in the woods with nothing close.
I always keep a streamlight strion hp LED in my truck on charge and one in my pocket. Lets just say it took a lil while to find them and another 2 hours of tracking and almost an hour walk out. No deer

But I love my streamlights.
If i had a holster that would fit my XD with a light, id have a tlr3.

Theres another one i was lookin at but cant rem the name. Its too late.

That's a good point too. Are there holsters available that work with the light mounted?

Thanks for the info on the TLR-3 guys. I'll start shopping for one.

Having difficulty navigating the Safariland site. I can't seem to find a holster that will accomodate a light. Maybe I'll call them next week for some help.

yes, as nonnie states there are, but it makes concealing more of a pain. My advice is to buy a small, decent edc light and carry it with you. I bought the TLR-1 when it first came out, i eventually got rid of it. More work than it was worth, I am not LEO, so it was pointless. I bought a cheap Streamlight Night Fighter 2 for edc back then. Looking at some Fenix lights now.

There are several makers on glocktalk, they can make you a holster!
