Default Building a Remmy 5R

This started out as a new remington 5R 300 WM

As soon as the gun came in it was off to the gun smith. I will report with pictures when he is done.

Work being done:

Thread and time RWS Muzzle Brake
Install timey trigger and set to 1.5lb.
Thread Bolt Handle and install tac bolt handle
flute the bolt body
and finally Cerakote the barreled action

Things I have waiting

Nightforce 20MOA Base
Nightforce UL rings
Triad Tactical stock pack
I also picked up some new glass for her on Friday

Here is the Manners T4 stock

I plan to shoot it for the next 6 months or so and then rebarrel it and have the action trued at that point.

Yeah mee too...LOL

I called my smith yesterday and he ran into a problem with his lathe and had to pull the board and send it in. So looks like I will be just looking at all the $ in parts laying on my loading bench.

I'm also thinking of sending the stock into manners for 4 flush cups (2 on each side) and getting a rail for my Atlas. I haven't decided yet, but I need to hurry up with this one so when my Stiller action gets here I have something to keep me busy with load development. The SPF action is going to take a good while before its done.

Okay finally got the rifle back yesterday evening... Can't wait to get some rounds down range.

Bought this back at the end of Jan. and started collecting parts for it.

Specs:

Factory remington 5R barreled action
Manners T4 mini chassis
Ross Brake
Timney trigger
TPS 20 MOA base bedded to action
NF UL Med rings
NF 5.5 x 22 x 56 MOA NPR1
Harris BRS 9-13 (I need a shorter one)
American defense quick release bipod mount
Accu-shot rail
Cerakoted in armor black
Tac Bolt ****
Fluted bolt by PPR
bolt handle removed and tig welded in place
barreled action was skim bedded into the manners also

All work was done by Scott Weichel here is Wylie TX except for the fluting which was done by Paul @ PPR. Both guys are by far heads above the rest in my book. Great communication, service, and really care about their customers.

I'm awaiting a phone call from a friend to shoot today. I will report back when I get some range time in.

One hell of a build. Do you compete? Or just like to build and shoot?

That Is nice. I love those brakes. I have one on a 338rum and a 300rum and they work great.

that is for the mini chassis. When the stocks are built they bolt in the aluminum block and the bottom metal before it is molded. This way when the mold is complete the stock, block, and bottom metal are as one. Just makes the stock more rigid IMO. Or at least this is what I was told by Manners when I got the stock.
