Are you using a WB? And if so, have you reconfigure it to display the right values for the percent of E-85 you have in the tank. I would just leave it configured for gasoline and tune to the same AFR you have been, that won't be the actual AFR you are getting, but it will give you numbers you are used to seeing.

yeah im using a w/b. if i were to tune for gasoline with e-85 ill be running rich correct? just asking cause i really dont plan on keeping e-85 in the tank, i just wanted to try it out as cheap high octane. but i dont want to be lean.

Just keep tuning for the AFR on your WB like you are now, it won't actually be lean. WB read stoich (complete combustion of fuel) and convert that to afr. Your WB is configured to convert it to gas afr, even though it will be a mix of gas ethanol. It will actually be richer then its saying, but you will be safe. I know it sounds hard to understand, but research how wb's work and what stoich is and you will understand.

If your truck is a flex fuel it should automatically compinsate. To kow the optimum afr you need to know the exact % ethanol in the tank.

i know what stoich is, but what i was asking since gas has a different burn rate and E-85 takes more fuel to a particle of air then what would be an ideal afr to be seen on a w/b for wot. gas is somewhere around 13.1 correct.
