Exactly where I lock mine (just after the 2-3 shift). Doesn't "feel" faster but it is consistantly giving me faster E.T. locked at this point. I haven't tried keeping it locked through the shift however a local Vette picked up 4 MPH by locking it just after the 1-2 shift. He reverted back to having it unlocked and sure enough he lost his 4 MPH.

I roasted a yank 2600TT within 2000 miles by doing this. If you are going to be locking at WOT with a good amount of power behind it, I suggest a good converter capable of locking behind a solid powerplant and a 5000# truck.

Good topic!

i currently do not lock at all in the 1/4 mile. This weekend i'm going to try locking just after the 2-3 shift and see what happens.

post up some results for us...

now im really thinking about NOT locking it? I just cant go through any broken parts right now... my converter has been good but I sure am afraid of breaking something at this time since there wont be funds available for a few months and that would really suck to be waiting for this good weather then something go's wrong...

Thats how my truck feels when I run it, falls on its face after the 1/8th. I'm thinking that I wont hurt my converter locking it WOT since its the triple disk. Or mabye I can lock it at 120 mph, because thats all my truck will do with 265's and 4.10's. I'm interested in the results, good thread

UPDATE:

I havent gone to the track yet, but I did get my converter locked @ 95mph, I drove my truck to work today and made a couple of WOT runs, the SOTP test says its DOES pull harder when it locks up, I can actually feel being pinned back to the seat and it feels like it is pulling alot better after 95mph ! I just hope there will be some results (et wise) from this, if not Im going back to unlocking it... too bad it'll be 2 weeks befoer I make it out there..

If it doesn't rain on Friday, I will do a couple of runs comparing each and post the results. I did this before and always got better E.T. by locking just after the 2-3rd shift.

my 2-3 shifts @ 85mph... and I have it locking @ 95mph, so is it better to lock it right after the 2-3 shift or like I did later on @ 95mph?
