I would like to add a trans temp gauge to my cluster this winter. I can not find anything for a Joe Gibbs cluster, so I believe I will have to make my own. I will just solder in the stepper motor, and make a gauge face. I can not find a needle or pointer though. Does anyone know where I can get one?

 

Here is what a needle looks like close up for those of you that haven't seen one. I would assume they are just used from another vehicle.

 

You should ask the guys that made it if they have one for the Tahoe Cluster or if any of the JG face plates ever had a trans temp.

I believe it was US Speedo that made the custom gauge overlay for Gibbs and other special edition GM Vehicles.

If they Do have them, let me know ASAP. I will Buy 2

I know they sell the needles and the overlays. I know they also do custom overlays.

If they did the Gibbs Overlay, they may have the pattern to make an overlay with the Temp in it. But is is possible they actually made some like that for Tahoe's or Avalanche's. If they have some NOS overlays like that I would be interested. If they have to make a new batch and there is a minimum I would still be interested in them.

 

I add a trans temp gauge to my cluster, and used a denali overlay thinking this would work...in my case it didn't work....anyone else done this and worked....

 

I believe that on 2003 and newer, the dealer will have to flash one of the modules to get it working.

 

I believe the actual cluster needs programming on all years.

I have heard of people removing the chip on the cluster that controls that specific gauge and copying the image to transfer to other clusters. But that requires special software and a chip reader.

 

I'll contact the chevy dealer next to me tomorrow, and see if they can get mine to work... will let you know. Oh I'll check i should have extra neddles red and orange...
