what year pcm?

I plan on doing a 5.3 swap this winter and I was wondering what the differences are in 99-2002 pcm's, or what one would be best to use in my swap. The motor is a 2004 but im switching it to a cable tb with a 2001 harness.

Yup go with an 01-up pcm.. service number will end in 411.. I went from a 99 to 02 pcm and it was the best thing ive done.. was getting a ton of false knock with the 99 and almost zero with my 02..

plug and play? or did you have to get the pcm vin unlocked or something?

Thats a good article by Yelo.. I had Allen Nelson tune my truck (before I got hptuners) so he just sent me an 02.. I put it in place of the 99 and it worked just like normal.. except it ran a lot better.. I would try what Yelo did, and see what kind of luck you have with that..
