Reading up some more on other things. Clogged catalytic converter was one of them. I remember back when the issue wasn't as bad as it is now- I tested the converter (bypassed it) and the truck still had misfires. Now I'm wondering if the misfires then and how it is running now are completely different problems.

I had a problem with blow by a couple months back and got it resolved. I'm wondering if that blow by REALLY screwed with the converter. Since the converter reacts to heat (and my issue is heat related) this would be another good place for me to look when I get back home. Also, my problem exists very badly if you shut the fully warmed up engine off.. wait a couple minutes (where at this time the exhaust has gotten even hotter) and turn it back on..Plus it also does it when I drive it hard (turbo making the exhaust crazy hot).... also turning AC on = engine load.. which the converter can effect also.. blah I can't wait to get home and test these things

I had my brother go to the house and open up the cutout (bypassing cat) and he said it ran a little better but still had misfires showing up on all cylinders using the aeroforce interceptor gauge (has real time misfire logging capability). He also is saying it is still running slow.

so.. my vote is when I do that compression test I will find the engine is done..

yup, I checked just the passenger side to start with. 2 cylinders were at 125-130psi and the other 2 were at 100 psi. I put oil in the cylinders and re-tested and all the cylinders jumped to 170ish, so verdict is dead piston rings.

6.0L going in now
