Default Using TM to launch?

I'm sure a few of you have left in just enough TM to launch without spinning right? How's that working out? Notice any difference launching with or without it?

Any information or theories welcome.

Either you all are misusing the term of I'm missing something. "Torque management" is a reduction in timing during shifts, it has nothing to due to power at other times. The only other thing I know of in the tuning is abuse mode.

I wish I had an electronic throttle so that I could do it.

Perhaps your right. I'm not 100% sure on this question.
I'm pretty sure Corey uses it to reduce barking on 1/2 shift. Am I just completely off on this then?

In HP Tuners under engine, in torque managemant, general, there is maximum torque, rpm vs. gear "Maximum allowed engine torque vs. rpm and current gear for transmission protection. Electronic throttle fitted vehicles only".

Ya i used to do that before i got slicks... Honestly i have never tried to use TM to reduce wheel spin on the launch... You could log your timing and just tone it down a little bit at the launch RPMs that way you would not make that much power down low...

If you where gonna use anything to help get you off the line, I would think that Burst KR would work the best. It just pulls timing at the stab of the throttle in anticipation of knock and then puts it back after that initial hit.

How about this:
Traction Control System (TCS)
The values affect the amount of retard the VCM will use to reduce engine power due to loss of traction.
  • Traction Control Spark Retard vs. RPM: Normal TCS retard (degrees)
  • Traction Control Air Fuel Ratio:
  • Traction Control Aggressive Spark Retard vs. RPM: Aggressive TCS retard (degrees)
  • Traction Control Injector Disable: Specifies the number of injectors disabled by the TCS system for each mode (V6 only)
  • Traction Control Max Torque: Specifies the torque reference for retarding ignition timing during TCS operation. The lower this is set, the earlier the VCM will retard timing during TCS. (V6 only)

I thought about that but my truck didn't come with TCS. Haven't looked into finding a way to enable it tho

Ya, I had my tuner tweak my TCS so that it wouln't be such a drastic reduction of power when it activated and now I can somewhat launch on the street. It used to feel like you slammed on the brakes at any signs of wheel spin, now it still breaks loose when it activates a little, but is much more controlable than with it turned off. Now that I'm dabbling into my own tuning, that's one area I want to start to fine tune.
