Default tuning AF w/o rear 02s?

Alright I'm trying to tackle this self tuning thing now that I have my new cam and heads combo coming.
My first concern is with a catless exhaust and the rear 02s deleted can I successfully run a wideband AF gauge off just the front 02 sensors? If so, is there anything in particular to watch for?

The truck still uses the front 02 sensors to run in closed loop. but if you have a wide band you could use one of the rear bungs already welded in the pipe. many people have tuned with just the front 02's but a wideband is better if you have one.

So all I'd need is to install the wideband to the rear bung on the header and can monitor that way?

yes but your WB will only "see" one side of the engine. I installed mine after the turbo so I'm not really sure the best place for N/A to install theres, but I don't see any thing wrong with the rear 02 sensor bung.

The rear 02 sensors only check the performance of the cats. they don't effect the tunning besides the eng light. lol

hmmm... so how do most guys monitor that then? Or do they only get the reading from one side?

I actually haven't gotten it yet, was trying to catch up on the knowledge first. I'll check it out once I receive it.

My cats are gutted and rear O2's disabled, I installed my WB in the driver's side rear O2 bung...seems to be working well so far.

I'm tuning mine with just the WB on one bank. Pretty much how most people do it unless they have any X-pipe they can put it in.
