apparantly you dont read posts

the 5.3 ecm is comparable to the tuned ecm wide open throttle
the tuned ecm will hold idle
a strong idle but an idle none the less

the cam is too big to hold idle on a tune but its still not
enough to beat a toyota camry.

i have been on this forum long enough to tell the ones with a legitamite answer or question as apposed to the nut swingers that just want another post count

^ Yea I agree. You're the guy that makes running a business such a pain in the *** sometimes. You'll never be happy with any kind of help you receive, so go get yourself some tuning software and fix it yourself.

Wow is this thread going down the tube, I think Allen did a good job explaining his side. My suggestion would be to let Allen work on the tune as he is saying. Maybe I missed it but what idle control system do you have? IAC, DBW? I had a cam bigger then yours in a 6.0 with no idle issues at all on a DBW platform.

Problem is- you talk about it cruise controlling so to speak and also speak of drilling the TB, these are two seperate issues.

Sometimes tuning can be a real pain. Initially I paid a person to tune my truck, and after 11 months (4 were winter months), countless tunes, and hundreds of dollars worth of fuel for datalogging he could still not tune my truck. I ended up getting my own software, and couldn't be happier. The best the other guy got it was either 3k at start up, and you had to double foot it when slowing or it stalled every time. He said he had never seen one like it. Just saying it isn't always easy.

I say no to drilling bigger hole. Tables to help stubborn idle:

Throttle cracker
Throttle follower

Anything smaller than 240's duration and 112 LSA can be tuned to idle properly if your tuner know's what they're doing and has the time. It can take some time to nail the idle down.

***edit***

There's no way in hell I'd ever get a mail order tune. There are too many parameter's that vary by small differences that can add up and cause issues. Baseline tune based on experience, drive - log - flash, drive - log - flash, repeat until it's right.

yes i agree
any tuner worth his weight in the smack that they talk using the best
program on the market to tune any vehicle should NOT be considering
drilling the trottle body blade to get an idle

ive been on this forum and ls1 tech for quit some while and i am learning the
tuners from the wanna be tuners and i chose a tuner with limited knowldege
to program a
2001 ext.cab sbed silverado
3200 circle d stall
pace setter headers
3;42 gears
4l60e rebuilt
b&m tranny cooler
cai
trick flow 216/220 560/560 cam
gm performance lq9 longblock
new delphi fuel pump
flowmaster duel exhaust
ngk iridium spark plugs
delphi mass air sensor
new tps
and the guys still cant get a tune worth its weight against the stock 5.3 ecm
runnning this set up
their ecm is throwing a p0452 code (doesnt start; no fuel)

installed and running the 5.3 ecm and their tune versus the stock 5.3 is very comparable to performance.

be very cautious on your tuner for your hard work and money spent

Mine appears to be drilled from the factory. I was a tad surprised at that.

if it is physically impossible for the IAC valve to pull enough airflow for your engine to idle correctly, there is no other way aside from drilling the hole a little larger.

i dont think this is your issue with a cam that small, but just showing you that there are exceptions to your incorrect logic.

i appreciate your input tx silverado
as ive been told that is a small cam for a 6.0 364 cu inch engine

but it sure seems funny to have idle and cruise issues with it and
leaving blackmarks with the whole performance aspect to be comparable
to a stock 5.3 ecm running this set up
in other words im running 91 octane fuel and spent 300+ $ for this to be comparable to the stock 5.3 ecm?
ive had this truck since 2002
stock 323 cu in 9.4:1 compression no headers no cam
Stock 364 cu in 10.1 compression headers and trick flow cam 216/220
and the 5.3 ecm is comparable to a "tuned" ecm to run this?
the idle is running about the same as the "tuned" ecm as far as drivability
in the wal mart parking lot
Im thinking it shouldve been 300+ dollars spent elsewhere
maybe the diablo programmer as compared to these "tuned" ecm to run my little
cam, 6.0
set up?
now the 2nd tuned ecm is throwing the p0452 code which will not let the fuel pump work
damn im frustrated right now
i wont respond to sponsor feed back till i hear from them from the voice mail
i left
i sure hope they make me smile instead of frown
