Does anybody on here have Tunercat?
ive read this on Fullsizechevy.com forums.
and its $379.... what yall think?
The OBDII Tuner is now available for some vehicles and others are planned for release shortly. Support for the following vehicles is now available:
OBD2_07 1996 - 1997 Vortec Trucks (4.3L, 5.7L, 7.4L)
OBD2_06 1998 - 2000 Vortec Trucks (4.3L, 5.7L, 7.4L)
OBD2_02 1999 - 2000 LS1 Trucks (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)
OBD2_01 1999 - 2001 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1
OBD2_03 2001 - 2002 LS1 Trucks (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)
The following are scheduled for release early this year:
OBD2_04 2003 - 2004 LS1 Trucks (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)
OBD2_08 1996 - 1997 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LT1
OBD2_09 1997 - 1998 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1
OBD2_05 2002 - 2003 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1
OBD2_10 2004 Corvette
This program allows full programming modifications of the stock computer. It allows you to change fueling, spark, shift points etc. Ive been programming TBI trucks for a while now but these have a removable eprom in them which you "burn" the file to. With OBD2 there is a flash programmable chip which is not removed but up till now there were no programs that could edit the vortec truck pcms and only a few shops in the country could do the reprogram

The only down side to their software is they don't have a scanner. They have been promising one for about a year and a half now, but I haven't head anything new on it in a long time.

I also use Tunercat, it has been on the market for 15 months now. I like teh licensing which is $79.00 for unlimited vehicles thatare supported by the definition file you choose.
I have a 1997 Vortec 350 rcsb truck, so I boughtthe definition file that covers the 96-97 trucks. I can tune any 4.3, 5.0, 5.7 or 454 that I can find.
MXScan is a scanner/logger that has biderectional control and supports wideband O2 sensor inputs. The reason MXScan has been delayed, is because the developer has gone back to support the arly 96-97 Vortec trucks. Tunercats is the only software that supports the 96-2000 Vortec 350, 305, and 454. James didnt want to leave us early Voretc truck owners in the lurch.
If he went ahead and cut us GEN 1-E Vortec owners out, and simply supported teh GEN 2 and GEN 3 GM guys, MXScan would have been out months ago.
I like Tunercats myself, there is a lot of tables that can be changed.Even if you cant the a/f ratios right now, its way worth the money to be able to remove Torque3 management, change shift points, set for gears, increase shift firmness, raise top speed limiter to 255mph, shorten shift timing etc etc.
there is no need to buy a Hypertech when there is Tunercats OBD2.
Just 2 days ago anther update was released. It takes me 50 seconds to download the update, then 5 seconds to install it. Good support.
When MXScan is released Tunercats will be the ONLY complete tuning suite for the 1996-2000 GEN 1-E Vortec trucks. Al the others support the new trucks only.
peace
