tuner help please
#1
i just put the supermaxx system from dynatech on my 01 tahoe, 5.3. gas mileage has greatly dropped, idle is good, performance seems better. i'm pretty sure that i should have done a tune on it as soon as i put the system on. my local dyno wants 600 cold for a tune, one pull before the adjustments, then one pull after. 600 to me is alot for this, would i be better off getting my own tuner, (handheld or computer) and doing my own tunes? plus, it would be used more than once, unlike the dyno. i know that the dyno will show true results for hp and torque, i'm just worried about the air/fuel mix or dropping a piston and such. plus, in the next couple of months i plan on doing more to the hoe, so that means more adjustments. help please, my exhaust tip is starting to turn black.

Spending 600$ for a dyno tune is nuts... To be honest, you would be better spending that money on HPTuners or EFILive. Avoid the handheld tuners if at all possible, and my personal vote goes to HPTuners which can be nabbed for only 499$ for standard or 649$ for the pro package.
Grated it is still a lot of money, but i believe its one of the best investments that can be made especially if you like to tinker with your motor
