Default tune reliability

My dad said that if I got a custom tune it would end up blowing the motor. Are there any reliability issues involved with a custom tune? Has anyone blown a motor because of a tune? Just wondering. thanks

I would at least half the guys on this board are running a custom tune without major issues, far from blowing a motor.
If a tuner blows your motor from their tune, they would have to be complete idiots.

I have heard of transmissions taking a crap after tuning. I personally would leave trans tuning stock and maybe add a shift kit and Servo.

peace

Ive had my tranny blow up twice with a custom tune, lol but there were other factors involved...

it would take a massive **** up to blow the motor OR tranny... i just blew my tranny bc i drove it for a while with a tune that made me slip in every gear.. so it was really my fault, lol.

This could one of two things.
A. The tuning part of the transmission was done wrong and caused problems with the trans.
B. The tune was done right but the extra amount of power and strain given by the engine was too much for the trans to handle.
