Default tune problems....

well i got my unlocked pcm back from allen nelson and he sent me an unlocked pcm....only problem is thats its a STOCK tune. he is a business man so i kinda figured this would happen. i need some help tuning for 93 octane like it was before. i got all the basics taken care of: dtc's, fan control, tm. i can figure out the transmission part but im clueless on the timing side.

ps: this wouldnt be a problem but iv only had hptuners a week!!!

That sucks. BTW need to change your sig now I guess....

I've only had mine a week too. Lots of noobs here with the recent spike in HPTuners sales. I would love to help, and you could help me too, but I haven't done any tuning on my truck yet at all. Been doing lots of reading. Those links posted here and the HPTuners board are very easy to understand, so it shouldn't take us long to get rolling with a good tune.

yeh no **** im changing my sig right now. im glad iv been doing nothing but reading since iv got it so i knew how to do the basic stuff i needed to. the truck actually runs good. i dont think he had all the tm taken out either though. all i did before i cranked it was diasble tm, turn off rear 02's and egr, and the fan controls. wow i never knew the 60e could shift so smooth, lol i can barely feel it shift. i didnt have enough time tonight to fool with it. i had a good tune, it ran strong and i got 16-17 mpg when i kept my foot out of it.

Are you supposed to completely turn off TM? I thought you were just supposed to back it down. And as far as shifting smooth, could that be because there isn't enough line pressure? I guess if it's truly a stock tune and you haven't changed the line pressure it's okay for it to shift smooth.

I don't have to deal with TM on my 2004, it's a 5 speed manual. My girlfriends truck however, the 2002 Sierra is a 4L60E with 3.73's. Fun? It's totally detuned from the factory, no where near as fast as my 04.
