Default trouble running the crank relearn with HPT

Am I missing something? It always says not ready of not connected, and everything is connected. Also, I don't think my fuel cuts off at 5000 rpm. I reved it up to see if that would happen and it didn't seem to do anything. Is it safe to rev that high just sitting in park?
What do you think?
Thanks,
Mike

  • You need to make sure your engine is up to full operating temp
  • shut truck off for 15 seconds
  • start truck up
  • connect your vcm scanner
  • apply emergency brake
  • make sure truck is in park
  • firmly hold down brake pedal as well, make sure you do not allow it to go up one iota......
  • hit START on the case learn
  • gently rev up to 4500 RPM's or so and immediatly when you feel the engine cut out let go of the gas pedal. You have about 3 seconds to gently rev the engine up to that RPM
  • Voila! CASE learn complete

When your crank position sensor is unplugged (I think?) or crank/engine replaced.

I thought I read you may need to do this with a bigger cam. My truck runs like **** until it really warms up. It surges and stalls sometimes also.
I also thought if the P0300 code keeps popping up, a CASE would fix this.

Am I wrong??

A case learn is required whenever any of the following occur.
  • New cam and or crank position sensor installed
  • New CAMSHAFT installed
  • New timing chain or timing chain with gears installed
  • PCM replaced or swapped out
  • New engine installed

I did a case learn after my new 6.0L was installed and the way the truck ran, started, and idled was a world of difference. This is crucial that this be done whenever any of the above occur.

I don't think a case learn is going to fix your problems, sounds more like you need some tuning for your cam.

I have a tune for the new mods. And I just sent a log to the tuner on Friday. Hopefully he tweaks the tune for me.
