Trans Temp Guage vs. Trans Temp PID
#1
Fellas, I'm looking to get a tranny cooler for my TBSS, and I want to be able to monitor the tranny temp. I could install a tranny temp gauge, but what about monitoring the tranny temp with something like an Aerotech gauge that monitors tranny temp using the computer's PID?
Are the computer's PID readings as accurate as an installed tranny gauge? Thanks.

the pid come from the same sensor the gauge in the cluster uses...which i think is in the pan. depending on where you would install the temp sending unit for a gauge your readings are gonna differ from the pid. in efi live, if my transmisson temp pid reads 130 my autometer gauge with sending unit installed in the pressure port will read 180 or so...

Thanks for the replies fellas.
That's interesting DD, so are you saying that your PID reading is 50 degrees too low, or is the autometer reading 50 degrees too high?
In either case it's troubling that the two readings are so far off.
