Default throwing codes p0151, p0300

p0151 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

p0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

Truck is an 02 silverado with a 5.3

My check engine light came on and I have these codes. I know I have to replace the driver side rear O2 sensor but what would cause the random misfire code? I replaced the plugs and wires and it did not help. I am not sure what else to check. Can someone please give me some advise?

you need to get a scan tool plugged in and find out what cyl is showing the most misfires. alot of times, one cyl can cause another to misfire and that will set the P0300 DTC. Your best course of action would be secuing the use of a professional scan tool to see the mis-fire monitors. If you are close to Los Angeles I would be more than happy to help you out with this.

It has this code now as well...
P1153 - Bank 2 Fuel Control Shifted Lean

I used a scan tool from autozone. I guess it was not sophisticated enough to narrow down the cylinders.

I live in bakersfield california, so I am not sure how far away you are. I need to get this thing fixed. It is dumping fuel into the cylinders.

Is there any scan tool I can rent from somewhere that will narrow down the cylinders?

I thought 1153 was an insufficient switching code. Header install?

Here is a screenshot from MY HPTuners VCM Editor>Engine Diagnostics>DTC's, which is 2002 PCM just as yours is. Seems that website has made a mistake...or HPT. LOL

So as per HPT, your passenger side front o2 sensor has switching issues. You say the truck is completely stock except the catback? What about the "custom tune" in your sig? If it is really stock, and you haven't messed with the tune and you have 60K+ on the o2's, replace em. Might just take care of your misfires. If the o2(s) isn't switchign fast enough "usually" you start to go a little rich, but sometimes lean. Hence sometimes, misfires. You should get a lean or rich code though. But that's a big if. If you are stock, I say replace the o2's and reset the pcm.

Custom tune to come...no tune as of yet. I will replace the O2s. I replaced the passenger side front O2 yesterday with a new bosch O2 sensor...

To make sure I am correct...if i am not please correct me.

Bank 1 are the O2s before the cat?

Bank 2 are the O2s after the cat?

Sensor 1 is the drivers side?

Sensor 2 are on the passenger side?

....So bank 2 sensor 1 would be the O2 sensor after my cat on my drivers side?

p.s. thanks for the help...

Nope.

Bank 1 is DRIVERS SIDE
Bank 2 is PASSENGER SIDE
Sensor 1 is Pre-Cat
Sensor 2 is After-Cat

You will commonly hear, "Left Bank or Right Bank".
