I've got a friend that has a 2001 Silverado 5.3 and all that someone tried to steal and they whooped on the steering column pretty good. So he decides to put a 2000 Silverado steering column in it, and now it still thinks it's being stolen and will only run for just a second after you turn the key. Does anyone know how to reset it or something? We've tried to take the battery off and all that good stuff, but it doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

This. It used to get packaged with a blackbear tune when he sent you the new PCM. He may still do it for first timers. If I could find the paper I'd scan it for you.

Turn key to run crank let engine die leave key in on position for ten minutes once the security light turns off shut key off and wait five seconds.
Then repeat above procedure again and follow exactly
Then repeat above procedure again and follow exactly only this will be the last time and once the security light shuts off turn the key off wait ten seconds and then crank the truck up it will run normally on the fourth crank time.

Wow you guys failed to read what he wrote. He said some one tried steal the truck and damaged the column he replaced it with another column from another truck.
There is an electronic device built into the lock cylinder in the Key system that is tied into the ANTI Theft. If the BCM and this device are not synced properly, I.E. the codes dont match, then they have to be re-programed. I went through this issue on a theft recovery and even tried to reset it with the same procedure and also tried to use a Tech 2. In the end I had to take it to a dealer and they had to replace the Lock cylinder and the BCM, then reflash everything in order for everything to work properly.
In my case there was no damage to the column but the engine and computer were removed and the truck even came with 1 original key. This truck did not have a Security Key System typically found on higher end models so it wasn't an issue of not have a security key with a transponder chip.
