Default Tach slightly off after v8 swap, can it be corrected with tune?

Ok so the IPC from a v6 truck Reads the cam sensor differently or gets a different signal from the v6 vs v8 if I’m correct. is there a way or place to change the way the vehicle reads this to correct rpm output on cluster in HP tuners?

Seems like it’s off with a multiplier so it gets exponentially worse the higher the RPM.

Thabks in advance

You could try using EFILIVE or HPTUNERS to swap the segments to the closest thing that matches your configuration. I bet that would fix it.

There are segments for the engine, system, speedo, fuel, and misc IIRC.

I believe the cluster tach uses the PCM tach output, which can be configured in the tune. It is likely off because the output is configured for a 6 cylinder, and it needs to be 8. Should just need to change high and low pulses to 3 and 3. That will be an 8 cyl tach output.

Thank you so much lastcall. My pulses were at 6 and 6 and changing them to 3 and 3 made the problem twice as bad. 8 and 8 was what made it dead on for my truck at least. Thank you for the tip.
