Stupid Question about codes
How do you know if your truck has any codes? Does it say on the information center where it displays your mileage? Do you need some kind of scanner to tell you? Just curious. I tried searching but I guess I am not very good at it because I couldn't find anything. Thanks for helping an idiot out.

well first off you will have a service engine soon light come on, but not all the time, if you can find someone to read your truck it could have a code in it but why do you ask? is the truck running bad?

Thanks for the reply. My truck just doesn't seem to idle as smooth as it used to. It is weird, it only does it sometimes. I am also getting a little bit of knocking on occasion. I have an 05 and the only thing I have done to it is add a magnaflow and a westers. I have had the westers for about 3500 miles and it always ran fine before. I don't think it is the gas because it has done it with on several different tanks of gas from several different gas companies (chevron, mobil, shell & 76) I only use 91 octane. I have no check engine lights or anything like that. Like I said it only does it on occasion like one day it will do it but if I stop at the store or something then restart it it seems fine then it will be fine for a couple of days. You can not tell by looking at the RPM needle it is more of something that you can hear and feel. I hope it is just my imagination but any suggestions would be appreciated.
