Default Sluggish Silverado 4.8L

So far I've added new delco plugs and beefed up the wires, edelbrock headers, K&N air intake system, and flowmaster muffler and I haven't really made any gains in acceleration or torque, only a little bit when I'm at highway speeds.

Will a custom tune help me out, I want to feel it when I take off from a stop light?

P.S. I can't even do a burn out! I got rid of my 1999 f150 4.6L and could smoke the tires with the exact same add ons...

Anything will help!

There is alot of information here. Check out the FAQ section in the Engine and Performance thread. Quick run for ya.

1. Ditch the Flomaster.
2. Edelbrock headers are shorties? Go with some long tube headers.
3. NGK plugs
4. Tune
5. Set of LS1 Fans
6. Cam/springs/push rods
7. Stall (converter) if you have an auto trans
8. New set of gears

Yeah yeah, that's true. It does save money, but all the bolt ons cross over to a 6.0 anyway. You'll want to mod it after the swap

Ditch the flowmaster and change to true duals? I'll have to save up for the 6.0....

A flowmaster really doesn't make a huge difference from a magnaflow. No they aren't straight through design, but it really won't make much of a difference unless you have forced induction. Mufflers are about sound and thats about it. I know many people with high horsepower cars with flowmasters on it....

dont put a big emphasis on true duals, just run single 3" exhaust after the y-pipe and you'll be just fine.

and save up for the 6.0 and just watch out for good deals, cant go wrong with a 6.0....ive seen a few regular cab trucks with tuned 6.0's with light bolt-ons run 13.2's

Do you have an automatic or a 5 speed?
Tuning really wakes up the automatics.
