Default slight squeaking from engine at idle?

I can hear a slight squeaking noise coming from the engine bay when my trucks idling, especially on a cold start. I just noticed it about a month ago. I remember reading once that someone had this problem and it was the rocker arms not getting enough oil? How can I fix this squeak, is it bad at all? Thanks guys, I just want to hear the low drone from my exhaust only when the engines running, not a high-pitched squeak added in the background

belt is very snug, it's not a loud squeak like a belt, it's more of a slight background squeak. if someone who didn't know a damn thing about cars listened to it, they prob wouldn't even notice the squeak

Ahhhh, mine was doing something similar about a week before one of my comp 918's broke. Not sure if my noise had anything to do with it though.

Pull the belts and see if it still squeaks. If it does my guess is its got a cam going flat. The LS engines seem to feed on cams about as bad as the old carbed 305s did.

I had the squeak. Changed the idler pulley, still had the squeak. Change the alternator all together (l/t warranty), and it finally came down to the a/c tensioner pulley. I changed that and the belt, no more squeak. Amen!

Scooter, how did you diagnose that? I'm sure someone didn't come in with the slightest little squeek and the first thing you guys did was replace the cam and removed heads to replace the lifters.

pull the belt to make sure its not the accessory drive. if the noise is still there then determine which side of the engine is louder. pull that valve cover and determine which rocker is loudest. if its not the rocker then its the lifter.
