One kinda random thing that has happened is that while doing the programming they have done, the last shop in town has managed to somehow lock up (3) different ECMs. They say they just lock up and they can't do anything else with them at all. Anybody run into this issue? I can't just keep replacing computers every time they try something new with it. Any way I can get these unlocked or something?
One place (the dealer) locked up two of them and then told me "sorry, there is nothing else we can do for you." Their customer service was probably the worst I have dealt with anywhere. Seems to me that if they lock my computers, they should have to replace them, no? Kinda like putting a broken starter on your car for a repair and then charging you for it, only to have you bring it back in and they say sorry, nothing else we can do.

If they are bricking that many computers they are doing something wrong. They are either flashing the wrong OS into it or trying to cross flash the ecm to a differnt year, or trying to flash a car tune into a truck ecm or something like that. That service numbner of the ecm has to match the ecm, also once the ecm is flashed for the first time with a tech 2 as a car or truck it will always be a car or truck ecm since tuning software cant change the DBW settings in the ecm. E38 ecm are not that forgiving when trying to change the OS or year of the tune.

L96
I bought a 2010 gmc 2500hd with the l96 and the 6l90e for 500 bucks Canadian!!! This gives me everything I need for my swap. I'm dropping it intomty 85 gmc Sierra. The issues I'm having right now is the 2010 is a two wheel drive while my 85 is a 4x4 so I know I'll have transfer issues, but looking forward to swap
