Shifting into OD Issues
Try to make this as quick and clear as possible:
Have 4.8L/4L60E combo with a Wheatley tune, all is well
Put cam in the 4.8L and the truck runs horrible (SUPPOSED to be a 214/222 .565/.565 115LSA) and won't shift into OD.
Thinking maybe it's just in the tune I drive to Houston to see Charlie. We find out it has to be some type of mechanical error or problem. He has the IAC open far more then it should be. Throwing tons of air at it results in it idling at 700 or so RPMs.
Truck, still running bad, but now I don't have to two-foot it gets driven home. Still in 3rd gear as it won't shift into OD.
Fast-forward a few weeks.
I have a LQ4 in there now, Patriot cam (I bought it brand-new from Patriot, 226/226 .585/.585 112LSA), everything else the same.
Truck runs now and does not require two-footing. In fact, the truck as a problem with idling high and giving the motor too much air when I'm out of the throttle (like when you're driving through a neighborhood). It will like to idle at about 800 RPMs when in P/N. And about 1300 RPMs in gear. Doesn't seem to have very much power down low, and doesn't seem to have much up high (only taken it above 4000 RPMs one time so far). It runs pretty good around 2000-3400 or so though.
Still no shifting into OD, and to get the torque converter to lock in 3rd gear I have to use my scan gauge to clear all of the DTCs.
I can't think of how this is a mechanical problem because the 4.8L did the same thing as my 6.0L is doing. What kind of problem in the tune could it be? Or where else should I look?
Thanks
Brady
