I agree with this, but my bank account doesn't.

I wish warranty covered mine when it broke, $2250 for a new one. This one is stronger though.

my boss' 03' silverado has over 30k on it with no signs of failure. he tows with it and daily drives it. nearly all of them miles have been without torque management. the truck has qutie a bit of tuning work and makes very good power for a mostly stock 5.3L. torque management was one of the first things taken out. if you have the trans settings right you'll be fine even without a shift kit. with anything more than bolt on mods i'd recomend going with a shift kit though. in my opinion i don't drive anything with a stock shifting trans. a shift kit is a requirement to me.

Yeah I don't intend to:

1) Increase shift firmness (I know, I know I'm in the minority and everyone loves firm shifts but my last truck shifted so hard it could give you whiplash and so I'm sick of hard shifts and want to enjoy this new tranny)

2) Do anything besides bolt-ons. No Radix, no spray, no cam. I don't have the $$.

3) Rag it out. There will be no smoky burnouts. The hardest it will be driven is if a Hemi or ricer wants to play or if I make it down to the track and neither of those will happen often.

SO.... In just normal driving how can having no TM do any damage? Especially since I have a towing package, wont the tranny cooler help?

Right now I'm thinking 100% engine TM removed and 80% Tranny TM removed.

Why even screw with performance mods if you arent going to use it just leave it stock, put gas in it and drive. 100 and 80 sounds good though.

I'm going to use it man! I drive fast and have fun just not annihilate it on a daily basis. I guess thats the point I was trying to make. I'm not going to burn out at every stop light.

Does removing torque managment actually increase power/torque to the rear wheels?

Also, how does a shift kit help protect an auto tranny? And any thoughts on torque managemant for a manual? 100% engine 0% tranny ?

Torque management just limits the power to the rear wheels at certain times if I understand it correctly so removing it will stop the limiting. The shift kit will make the shifts firmer and stronger so it will not slip as easily. Not sure about the manual, I guess it just depends on the driver. If they are not used to driving a manual then I would probably keep it in there but if they were used to drving it then they could probably get away with removing it. I would think that the manual transmissions would be stronger anyways but I'm not too sure on that.
