I welded a bolt to the frame on the passenger side and just used a nut to secure the cable end. It was about 12" from the block.
I wouldn't be using 4 gauge for anything more heavy duty than a stereo amplifier. I ran 2 gauge for my primary power cables and could still tell a difference in cranking. You need big stuff in this case...as others have mentioned, welding cable is a good choice.

if it wont start at all i would say something came loose? you have any power? and dont forget. you can never have too many grounds. but make sure the key grounds as stated are done

It's an optima yellow top so it's about 880 cca and about 6 months old. When I was jumping it a guy came over and said I was sparking from under the passenger wheel well. Looked liked the wires on the starter were touching so I'm going to have to pull the starter and fix that

So the new wire came in. Is a true 2ga. Here it is compaired to the cable that was being used.
I also added a ground from the block to the frame on the passenger side. When I went to start it it would start then die. It does this when I flash in a new tune or when the battery dies but it started and idled under its own power. I let it get to full operating temp the shut it down for 5 min. Then went to restart it and it fired right up. Lets hope it works from now on.
