Default PCM trouble!!! HELP ME

Hey Guys,

I'm having trouble with my PCM and I really need help tracking it down. I have fried 2 of them! It happened as I was driving and I have no idea what caused it. The truck gets up to operating temp and shuts down very shortly after that. While I was sitting there after it shut down the engine coolant temp was spiked, and the tranny temp was spiked as well. I know for a fact that this was not an accurate reading! They were at normal operating temps (about 190* and the tranny was cold) and everything just went crazy. I was driving very slowly or stopped when this happened both times, so the fans would definitely have been running, but I'm not sure they were. The only things I have changed electronically are HPT tunes, X-link and new injector harnesses wired in. I dont think its a tune because it happens after the truck has been running for a few minutes. Its possible its the X-link, but I have been running that for about a week and a half with no real issues. I will take it out and try to see if thats the problem I'm having. The other thing I'm thinking is that is could be my E-fans. It seems to get up to operating temp, and I'm not sure if the fans work at this point, but my thought is that they're fried and when the PCM goes to turn on the 2nd fan on high (at about a 210* operating range) it kicks back some sort fo signal that kills the PCM.

Has anyone else run into a problem like this??? I need HELP!!!

Is it possible there is something in the tune that could be doing this?

Can someone poitn me in the right direction to an adapter plate to run the 78mm TB on a 4 bolt 90mm intake?

I've seen it happen a few times when people are messing with ETC tables, sometimes they get a few blocks and then the vehicle goes into REP and shuts down completely.

That's exactly what happened to me. I'll have to look over my ETC tables to see if they were changed.

I have unlimited Gen III trucks so that shouldnt be an issue.

I think I found my issue tough. Somehow one of the ETC cells was plugged in to read 200. That would do it...

Thanks for the help guys!

I am under the impression that HPT allows you to adjust a ETC Table and the parameter limit is too high. This rolls the code into the next parameter.

I have been told that HPT allows the setting to be set out of range vs another setting.

Both maybe true or not. I have adjusted several tables in TunerCat that HPT doesn't have and I have never bricked a PCM by adjusting them.

From my understanding, if the PCM ETC % is outside of an unknown boundry specific to individual TAC module's it will lock up the computer. For this reason I don't mess with adjusting them in any tune, although I would really like to.

Even having control over this table is like saying "Do not push that shiny bright red button right in front of you"

#1 PCM we do is Unbrick PCM's for ETC parameters.

With that said we see the code on the chip from a ETC bricked PCM. I would have to say the rolled code is the common issue
