Default PCM swap

i have a 6l and 4l80e in my '03 truck. For some reason the pcm won't get a reading from the rear VSS. The wiring all the way to the PCM and the sensor check out good. Can i swap in the computer from our '06 2500 shop truck and just load my tune on or is there something else that won't jive? thanks

So it got a reading from the VSS and now all the sudden it didn't. Sounds more like a prob with the VSS than the pcm

Original pcm was the stock one, '03 chev 1500. I swapped the vss with the transfer case shaft speed sensor(same sensor, same reading) - shaft speed still registers, vss still does not. I also took a resistance reading off the vss and then took a reading from the two vss wires right at the pcm plug, with the sensor plugged in, and the two were the same. To me this would say that the whole circuit is fine up to the pcm?

Sorry to dig this up from the dead, but was there a resolution to the problem you had?
