Default PCM & BCM questions...

I intend on using the PCM from my 2000 in my 2001 when I swap over the drivetrain. (The PCM is already tuned for the cammed LQ4/80E & efans) Would it be a good idea to swap in the BCM from the other truck as well?

I'm installing the fog lights from the 2000 as well, most say that the BCM will need to be reprogrammed since my 2001 didn't come with fog lights. If I swap in the BCM, will that eliminate the need for that?

The BCM and the PCM Vin need to match for the VATS.

How ever when You you use different modules from another vehicle, The correct vin for your vehicle will no longer be in that vehicle. This could pose a problem for Inspections where the OBD2 port is used to read the data. For example a smog check. If the vin number does not match the one on the vehicle it could fail.

Is the VATS module something easily swapped as well?

Not worried about emissions, none here in FL. I would fail the visual if they did. (No EGR)

The 2001? I checked and it's the same part # as what came out of my 2000.

The PCM I took out of my 2000 has a service # of 09354896, HDW # 16220610. I was expecting it to be a 411 PCM.

99 and 2000 no matter what vehicle it is out of arent the same as 01-02 pcms

some of those earlier pcms can be flashed with the new operating system and some cant

when possible use a 01-02 pcm

part numbers dont change the fact of what is inside them

OK, I guess I will just have my current tune flashed onto the factory 01' PCM. I'll give the PCM out of my 2000 with the 4.8/60E when I take it out in a few months.
