Unfortunately in Nevada everything is done via County, and there is only 1 inspection station in Washoe County for Reno, NV. They have also cracked down on validating registration addresses too. You can no longer use a PO Box on your registration.
We have the same here in CA. But there are area's that are not heavily populated on the out skirts that do not require a smog inspection.

Make friends with someone in an area like that and register accordingly.

This is for customers. I sell most engines out of state just because I advertise nationwide and its a bigger market. I have shipped some to Canada and even to India. But I have quite a few around town, not to mention friends and relatives. Plus I honestly believe in building a car / truck that is as 50 state legal as possible and be legit with the whole thing including registration, address, etc. But this is just taking it a little too far. The EPA wants to clean up the air and people try by doing these swaps. But this will discourage many from doing it and send there truck to the scrap yard.

Find a Vin for a truck built for export to the middle east. I believe they have no emissions maybe cats but that's it.

I looked at several 3500 truck files I have and even those have 1 DTC enabled for EVAP so I would guess they do readiness testing for it.

Maybe it's just karma for you Nevadans cuz you keep reelecting that idiot Harry Reid.

To be honest, how would the inspection referee even know if a vehicle did or did not come with the EVAP stuff? GM is not going to make a different OS just because of EVAP, they would just disable it in the tune anyways wouldn't they? If they cleared the codes, and the EVAP readiness tests lit up without the EVAP stuff it would never pass again. I think you would have better luck just flat out telling the referee what you are doing and what you want done as a final result. He might even know a trick around it that he might share. I would assume most of those guys are car guys like all of us. If I was really hunting for an OS without all the EVAP stuff I would look into seeing what boats run off of. I am not a boater, and don't even go out on the water. I think some of those run GM engines.

Set ALL Evap codes to 3- No Error Reported and then UNCHECK the boxes to the left of the codes in HPTuners...this will make the test show as NA (as if the vehicle didn't have that equipment to begin with) rather than as complete and this will satisfy your emissions test problems (if you have EFILive, you need to set the codes to X: Not Reported in the processing enablers, and then No MIL in the DTC MIL Enablers). You'll then be able to leave all other codes set normally, pass an OBD2 drive cycle, go in, and pass your test when they see all is complete and they then hit reset.

From what I can see you need to do this with P0442, P0443, P0446, P0449, P0451, P0452, P0453, P0454, P0455, P0496, P1665, P2025, P2026, P2027. I may have missed some, and depending on your tune, some may already be set accordingly.

I haven't done this with every OS...but every one I've done it with in a non-emissions swap vehicle has worked fine, for whatever emissions test I wanted to remove (EGR, AIR, EVAP, Catalyst...).

You could also try looking for a truck application from something like a topkick "cabover" truck, or a state bed body truck with a high GVWR...they have different emissions requirements when built, and usually less tests.

I just tried this on the the shop truck, 2002, OS=12212156, and it doesn't work. I notice in the DTC list that things like EGR, AIR, etc that it does not have are set like you said and shows N/A in the emissions list when scanned. Maybe I'm missing one. I went over the DTC list several times and can't think of any others that would somehow be related to EVAP other than the obvious.

What about the ls-type engines that they sell for generators? I wonder if that OS is different.

The few LS generators I have run across run on natural gas or LP. I haven't seen a gas powered one but that's not to say they aren't out there.

I can not get the EVAP portion to show N/A with any logical combination of DTC's turned off and SES box unchecked. I had a customer motor on the stand this week, OS = 12587603. I played around with it for a few hours and no luck.

This is with ALL EVAP related DTC's off. I even tried some odd ones thinking they maybe somehow related or tied to the EVAP systems, but nothing!
