Default notebook

I have been looking at getting notebook because i plan to get tuning software so i can tune my truck by myself so i need you guys help telling me whats what cause i have no clue as to what these numbers really mean. so i was looking at a Inspiron B130 and was wondering if it would serve the perpose of tuning with efilive or a program like that, also i will use it to browse the internet and use word and excel on it. so would the one i picked work and would it be decently fast or should i get a better one and if so witch one from this link would be perrty good and not be over a 1000 bucks?http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...s&cs=19&~ck=bt

Your link doesn't work for me, but It doesn't take a lot of computer for any of the stuff you want to do. There are a lot of guys use $2-300 ebay laptops for tuning just fine. Just find one with about 2000mHz processor, 512 MHz ram and about a 30-40 gig hard drive in your price range and it will do anything you ever want to do with it. Just remember, though the faster the processor and bigger the screen, the shorter the battery life.

I'm running the newest version of HP Tuners on an old Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop w/ 550Mhz and 384MB of memory on Windows XP. It runs actually pretty good.

I just picked up a new laptop and went with sony Viao, it had the brightest display of all the computers I shopped, good for trackdays in the Sun, that may or may not be something worth considering for you.

Just be careful with HPT....the present iteration (AFAIK) requires a serial port, and many laptops do not come with a serial port. The Dells that do that I know of are the D510 and D610. If you get a laptop that doesn't have a serial port you could always get a PC Card with a serial adapter, but that is an added expense, and it doesn't always work right. Also, I think HPT may be coming out with a USB interface, though I don't know when.

EFI uses USB, which is on every laptop.
