Default Noob timing question

Ok I am absolutely no tuner and rather new to everything so here is my question. sorry if I'm

On a bolt on 4.8 can I have my tuner increase timing to get more power?

From what I have read boosted guys have to turn down the boost to lower IATs that way they can increase timing and make more power safer correct?

I havent really found anything on this as far as nearly stock motors go but if I can is there anything I need to upgrade first?

I feel there is alot left in my tune and want to be able to understand what I need to ask my tuner to do to get more (hopefully that makes sense).

Thanks in advance!

Yes they can do whatever you want with the timing. Though if you have a good tuner, I'll bet he's thought of it before. He probably already did what he could safely.

If you have to tell your tuner what to change you need to find a new tuner.

My brothers 04 4.8 picked up around 20 hp from tuning alone if I remember right, it's been years since I tuned it.

I have no doubt that my tuner knows what he is doing I am just trying to understand a little more so I know what to ask about. When I first got a tune from him I said I just wanted a mild tune but now I would like a little more so I want to know what to ask about rather then just say "Hey I want more".

Soon I will be buying ether EFI live or HP tuner and start doing this junk myself.

Guys who know better, chime in...
I had my tuner write mine for 93 octane. I assume that the higher octane leaves room for more timing and/or pulling fuel.
I was already using the 93 tune on my old Diablo Predator. It got me better mileage and more more power so I kept it up for the custom tune.
