Default Nnbs alternator on nbs

I have an alternator from a 2010 5.3 ( which I believe is a 145amp) and I want to use it on my 2000 5.3. The difference I noticed is the wiring. My current 2000 alternator has a 4 pin plug with only one wire being used. The 2010 alternator has a 2 wire plug. If I'm able to use this alternator how do I wire it? Or should I keep my 105a and install a overdrive pulley. I did efan swap and noticed voltage drop at idle. Thanks!

I did this exact thing and just replaced the regulator on the alternator with the proper one. Not too hard, only costs about $40 IIRC.

Mine is a 2000 truck. I don't have a dr44 factory. I read more into it last night and a overdrive pulley might be simpler

Overdrive pulley just overspins the alt.
Puts into charge mode sooner, it does not increase its amp output rating.

Its a bandaid, buy a better alt.

Not a problem. I understand a pulley swap would be a bandaid. What would be the most budget friendly higher output alternator?

My truck is a 99... it came with the same alternator you have and the alt I put in there by changing the regulator was from an 07 or 08 truck.
