I have a 99 ecsb silverado and lately when i try to start the truck nothing happens. But if I try to turn the key 5 minutes later it will fire right up. I checked all of the conections on the battery and starter and they all look perfect. Today I tried to crank it and its like the battery is completely dead but is does the same thing when I have jumper cables hooked to it. When the door is open the dome light is on bright but when i turn the key everything shuts off. Does this sound like the ignition switch. And if it is is there any computer tuning of any sorts with the VATS when it is changed. Thanks for any help

Check to see if you have 12v getting to the starter solenoid while someone turns the key. If so, the starter is at fault, if not, the ignition switch or it's circuit may be suspect
