With the cam you selected, you should be able to use the 7.4's fine.

Someone told me a long time ago,

Zero compression - rings/stuck valve issue

Low compression - other issue (valve not opening all the way, collapsed lifter(s))

Hope you get it figured out but I think you'll be tearing it down again.

I installed the lunati street performance link bar lifters and heads did need a bit more then expected taken off. The issue was that the valves were not closing all the way. I did check the rod length and i need 7.266 instead of the stock 7.4 and that gives me about .040 of preload which lunati recommends .020 to .040 on they're lifters.

IT LIVES!!!! The pushrods were the cause and it's running and sounding good. I am having some hesitation and rough idle once the engine warms up but I'm hoping the tune with clear that up. Any thoughts on that? I cleaned the Throttle body and I'm going to be replacing the spark plugs again and the bank 1 o2 sensors just because the coolant that was trapped in the cat and may have fouled them out.

Once again I appreciate all the help from you guys, thank you.

They are stock rockers.

I drove it to work today and it ran pretty well, after it was up to operating temp it would idle around 500-550 and when coming to a stop it would dip down around 400 but bounce right back up to 550 or so. The idle isn't too bad but when it's at 500 RPM the engine would kinda shake every couple seconds, almost like the TB was dirty or something.

I just order the scan cable tune from black bear so hopefully I get that going soon.

P.s. how long should I be light footed on the new cam? What the usual break in time? Thanks again.

With a roller cam its more or less breaking in the new springs, which i dont recall at this time, but a quick search for it, its been posted a few times, something about low rpm less then 2500 iirc, to operating temps then full cool and then one more heat cycle and your good to go.

I just go 2 heat/cool cycles before going crazy with it. to be honest, I've gone crazy on new springs with no problems too.

With the stock rockers you don't have to set the zero lash and then a few turns. Should just torque to 22 ft lbs in sequence and that's it.
