NA setups !! ONLY!! how much timing?
#1
been doing alot of testing and alot of spark plug reading, alot of old school friends being involved! got really nervous at the level of timing i been pushing, the end result has been spectacular!
question in hand is how much timing has one pushed in the LS based NA setup, mines a 408 but doesnt matter just currious on whats being ran?
the guys i been dealing with plainly told me **** can the wideband and tune by the plugs, the result has been amazing and the end result well i'll post slips when i feel satisfied
before i got kicked off my home track she was cutting 1.51-1.54 60 fts
now im forced to get a cage before i can continue to race on my home track again!

There are too many variables to get any valid information from this question. to answer your question, i pushed my 5.3 up to 36* with zero knock...was i making any more power at 36* over about 28*? probably not.

im running 27.5 on the big end in my 6.2 seems to stop making power right around 27 - 27.5. i saw negligible increase on the dyno. this is on e85 though. on pump i ran a max of 23 up top.
coming out of the hole im around 30-32. e85 again. trying to get the heads to do something down low by forcing cylinder pressure in it's ***. on pump at 19-20.
some people don't realize that cylinder heads play a huge role in this. the more efficient the heads, the less timing is needed to make max power.

i think youre right on to many variables, i was told the softer runners will displace heat quicker and able to run more timing, along with other things, but i dont run after market heads just some ole ls3 heads ported and worked.
i started at 30* like most, i made 4 passes all with in a 2 hour window, pulling plugs , reading plugs, changing plugs, time slips showed improvement from 30-36 degrees, gains not only in MPH but ET and 60 ft times. they wanted me to keep adding timing until NO gains were shown then back off 2* , but before i could i was kicked off the track at evadale
i went from a 118.9 mph to a 122.7 mph NA would be nice to see a 124 NA its all good, i hooked up with some good people on the bullet
