maf to speed density, 8.1L turbo bla bla
#1
Ok so i searched and it only pulls up 10 pages in which i read most post and now im more confused that i started.
Here is the run down. 01 2500 8.1L headers, cam, turbo bla bla bla...
I ran the maf when it was cammed and supercharged, i sold the blower and it went all to hell.. So im assuing my maf has died. Instead of buying a new maf again i was thinkning about doing speed density swap..
However here are my problems.
1) some people say the SD isnt that grate if you travel. Im in the mountains and elevation can change over 3K feet..
2) how hard is this swap.. someone said just cut and place a few wires, bot then other talk about the air intake sensonr has to be bought and wired up.
im so confused, and to make matter worse, my buddy has both on a camaro. the way i understood it, it runs on the maf until X amout of boost then speed density takes over..

sorry
the drivablility.. im assuming that the maf got dammaged when i removed the blower... it went from driving normal no issue, to cammed like a big block, adles at 4-500 rpms... wide bad reading ---- in the lean.. when you drive it runs ok, then all the sudden its liek you truend the key off. all power gone, wide band reads --- then bam back to normal.. Some time i get the reduced power, power message, service engine soon etc... you can turn it off and back on it resets and is fine for a while... then it goes back to crazy cam.
This is with the tune that was in it before the supercharge. not the blower tune so all things aside, the only difference is,
1) the maf was moved back to stock location,
2) the throttle body was moved back to stock location...

tried that, does the same thing.
The problem with the tune for the blower was the fuel.. its was way to rich.. just normal driving was 10.5 -11.5 then 1/4 throttle it was in the 9's.
This is the real kicker.. i got mad last night and just unplugged the maf. idles perfect wide band reading 14.8-15.1 at 800 rpm... drove down the road and its fine, however if you go over half throttle it shuts down and says reduced engine power. Im pretty sure that maf has taken a crap..
guess its time to read up on speed denstiy.
