The wiring all came pre ran for the engine and trans. Best I can tell the vss wire runs to the ECM then back out to the tcm. I've checked everything I can think of still just first and second. I hooked a laptop up to the tcm and its showing mph.

 

Just found out it has a 3000 stall in it. I guess it needs to be tuned. Will that cause the issues I'm having

 

I've always heard a higher stall converter needs to be tuned but I thought it would at least run through the gears.

 

Yes it can/will cause a default. Tuning is required.

 

Ok thanks it came with some software but I don't see that working in this situation. It just allows you to change shift points, line pressure, rear end gears, tire size, and converter lock up. But I'm inexperienced in that area and wouldn't know where to start or adjust on the shifting or converter stuff
