Default Ls3/ 4l70e Gmpp turn key package trans problems.

Not sure if this is the right spot for this but here goes. This is in a customers car (69 camaro) we put a gmpp ls3 and 4l70 turn key set up in it purchased by the customer. All computers and wiring included. The guy working on It took another Job in the oil field and isn't around. So I'm trying to finish it. It runs fine no check engine codes. But it won't shift out of second gear and when you first get on it it is REAL sluggish down low until it gets up in the rpms. Kinda like having a big cam and a stock converter but its all stock. Trans fluid level is good. ANY IDEAS? I think it's electrical but idk?!

Does this run a separate Blue GMMP trans controller?

If so make sure the correct plug is plugged into it. I had a similar issue on one and we swapped the plug and it started shifting correctly.

Yes it does have a seperate trans controller... I thought only one plug could go into it. Could you explain? Thanks

Maybe it was the VSS Sensor. There are 2 similar plugs that are labeled similarly and I remember digging around in the car and finding an extra connector.

I figured it does not shift so I can't hurt anything.

After swapping the plugs it started shifting correctly.

Look at the plug on the controler and The VSS sensor on the tailshaft of the trans. See if there is a spare plug in the harness not being used and swap it accordingly.

I checked and the vss is plugged in. I traced it all the way to where it goes into the ECM from there it goes back out to the trans control module. I also unplugged it to verify it was working and it only stays in first like I was thinking because I've had one go bad in my truck and that's what it did. Any other ideas???

Found these on the tech side and thought they might be of some use.

PCS makes the GM supermatic controller.

Powertrain Control Solutions - Manuals

If I remember correctly there was a VSS Plug on the trans side of the controller and one on the engine side. I found the wire was bundled back up in the harness and zip tied up out of the way.

I believe it needs the VSS wire to be hooked up from the engine side.

Sorry I cant be of more help.

I know if it was in front of me I could figure it out. Unfortunately in this case I was not allowed to take pictures due to the shop and there clients high profile status.

The engine side controller doesn't need the vss, just plug in the trans controller to the trans vss. It's probably running a stand alone speedometer anyhow
