LQ4 leaking at the rear of the engine
#12
Well last night when I got home I bypassed the throttle body coolant hoses with a barb fitting coupling. I hooked up that Lisle coolant reservoir and filled it halfway with water. I definitely had a lot of bubbles in the beginning, but eventually no bubbles even after revving the engine. I temporarily unhooked the PCV valve and blocked the hose and ran the engine for 2k-3k RPM. The smoking stopped. I reconnected the PCV valve before calling a day. I think I'll go ahead and replace the PCV.
I drove it to work this morning and all seems back to normal. Weird.

There's a newer (updated?) valve covers? I did put a valley cover gasket.
I went to take a peek from the wheel well and still see the oil in the same spot. My daughter had a volleyball game in the finals and they lost, so I'll crawl under there tomorrow, but I think you are right! I'll order that rear main alignment tool and and seal.
I was hoping to change the R&P on my 99 'cause it's been leaking for a while over Thanksgiving... guess I'll do two jobs for the price of one. :-)
Thank you all for your input. I'll keep y'all updated.

Good to know! I got the alignment tool in the mail. Thanks! I ordered the Felpro rear seal/gasket. I think it'll be here on Wednesday. My Suburban doesn't fit inside my garage, so I'll have to do this in my driveway. Of course, now it got cold....😒
Since I really didn't have anything to do I decided to keep working on cleanup on the 4L80e I'm rebuilding for my brother's truck 90 C1500. Kinda tedious job.
