Question Looking to program my built 5.3 motor. I have a ECM/ HP tuner question.

I have a built 2000 GMC 5.3 that needs a tune. I have a friend actually who is member on the LS1 section of the forum with a 10 sec built 2000 Camaro.
He has an HP tuner with tons of credits, We are both wondering if it would work to buy a 2000 camero ECM intall it ito my sierra and use the HP tuner to tune that truck that way?
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Mike.

Drive line, so far.
Thunder Racing TR224 on a 114 LSA 563 lift cam
Thunder Racing 7.4 pushrods
PAC 1218 single beehive valvesprings
Pace Setter Long tube headers
Cat delete
4000 Stall converter
NX 100 Shot, plate kit
The true dual 3" exhaust isnt installed yet with the Magnaflow race bullet mufflers
456 gears and and rear locker.
Waiting for the HP tuner.

So being it was his idea not about bucking up. Will it work? Thats the question?
I can afford to buy it, but this would make this a little easier. No need to get hasty.
Its a simple question, all i wanted was a simple answer, thats all guys.
Geez. Im not going to buck down on what i have built so far, we just thought it was a different good idea. Thats all.

Thanks guys.
Mike.

It would work, but it wont be any better than just using your pcm. You have to license the PCM one way or another...

In order to flash a PCM with a different calibration (ie, your "tune") with hptuners, you have to first license the PCM. Basically buy the rights to flash that PCM. So you can either pay for the right to flash yours or the one from the camaro, it doesnt make any difference, but using yours would be a lot easier.
