Locked ECM
#1
Not sure if this is right location but i recently got a 2014 Silverado 6.2l and was going to throw on a tuner. Tuner stated truck has a higher tune and is locked and need to unlock so it couldnt connect. Im trying to see if anyone in the mn twin cities area can help or if there is a tuner that can unlock the ecm?

What is a "higher" tune?
Nearly every time a computer is locked, it needs to be unlocked with the same tuner/device that locked it.
What tuner are you using that says it's a locked computer?

I was using a edge cs2 to disable the afm but the edge stated there was a tune of higher or equivalent settings already on the truck. I bought the truck like this and am unsure how to unlock the truck to get the afm disabled

I'm not sure either to be honest.
I use HP Tuners and not any of the handheld tuners like Edge or Diablo, so I'd have to attempt to read a file off the trucks before knowing if there was a way to unlock it. Because if HP Tuners couldn't even read it, the computer is basically a paperweight without the tuner that locked it. You'd have to buy a new PCM at the dealership and have them flash it while it's there.

You might be able to pull the file off as a single *.BIN using the freeware tools - "LS Droid", "PCM Hammer" or "Universal Patcher" and then edit it with "Tuner Pro RT". This might not be possible because you don't list what PCM variant you are working on - P04, E67, P12, E40 . . . IDK?? Some of these other tools don't cover as many PCM variants as HP Tuners but they can often pull the file as a BIN (HP Tuners can't do that anymore) and they are free . . . no HP Tuner credits required.
I absolutely can't make you any promises with these other tools and HP Tuners and the GM dealer tools are likely your best course of action. But there are these "possible possibilities" out there for people to try. I have a stack of I think eight junk yard P01 and P59 PCM devices ready to go on the shelf here that I've used to create PCM's for me . . . I'm a believer in their capabilities.
I think you are about to lose whatever tune is present in your PCM because its about to be replaced with something else. This will happen at the instant your PCM gets hooked up to a GM dealer machine.
