you said it! tuning on the street is where it's at, not on the dyno.
I strongly disagree with this statement, and if you've spent time on a load capable dyno, you would almost certainly agree. Without one, you have no way of knowing if your timing is yielding best torque or not, nor where your timing is in relation to minimum best torque. Dyno Dynamics precision is where it's really at for engine calibration tuning.

Of coarse A Dyno Dynamics dyno is best, but how many people actually have access to one and know how to use it. Therefore the street tuning rules over Dynojet tuning.

thank you!

Welll either way I'm more happy with how my truck's running than I ever have been... and it was tuned on the street. It feels stronger all over the RPM range. pulls harder down low, mid range, higher RPM's... everywhere. shifts are cleaner still and a/f is looking good...

Lance, I was running that much timing on the 150 shot once or twice, it didnt ping but I was kinda nervous about it so we backed it off a tad. hopefully by the end of the year, I'll be running another stage

Don't get me wrong, I've done plenty of street tunes, and I'm sure yours is absolutely spectacular now compared with what it was, especially considering the size of your cam and your TC's stall rpm. You definitely can't get an auto set up right without running it around on the street quite a bit. Enjoy your newfound power.

Justin, I know you know your **** about tuning... can you elaborate on the advantages that you are referring to??? For a guy like silver-mod-o(or whomever), who drives his truck everyday, what would his best bet be for optimum DD capability as well as an outstanding WOT tune in your opinion?

Well, in abridged form...
You utilize a load-capable dyno to nail down every cell in your VE, MAF and timing table. Each and every achievable cell has proper fueling and timing that is optimized, right on up through WOT.
Then, after the 1-2hrs on the dyno is finished, take it out on the street to nail down trans issues.
You're left with a vehicle that makes best torque at all load points (rpm x air mass), yielding the greatest possible gas mileage, throttle response and power.

Not tryin to stir **** but I'm a little confused, it is late (early) But, dc justin your sig says tuning w/ EFI Live. Which is it? EFI on a laptop works on the street too right?

I need those secret values brother. Shifting manually or just keeping it out of "D" around town works okay but.... the whole trial and error thing gets tiring

Dyno Dynamics is a dyno manufacturer. Using EFILive in conjunction with applying load to the rollers via the dyno is my "preferred" method of tuning the engine calibration. It most certainly can still be tuned on the street, as that is far and away what is available most often to most all of us here.
