Isn't HP tuning substiantially more expensive for us??

I'm still on the HP tuners/EFI live battle here... and something came to mind. Correct me if I'm wrong here...but most users here use HP tuning... but Most drivers here have automatics and many have forced induction. EFI live costs 125$ per Vehicle while HP tuners is 2 credits for the engine, 2 more for the automatic transmission and 2 for custom OS for forced induction or ethanol tuning. That's about 300$ worth of credits.
Isn't using HP tuners MUCH more expensive in the end?

You do not license the trans in HPT. 2 credits for the computer, and 2 more if you want a custom OS such as 2barSD. When you buy HPT it comes with 8 credits, 2 credits per vehicle or 6 credits to do a whole model year. When I switched my tune to a 80e file it required no credits as you are licensing the VCM not the segments.

After doing the research, I'm going with HPTuners next week (not dissing EFILive, I'm just new to tuning and HPTuners seems to have far more support)

AH..ok... I misread, Somehow I was under the impression, tuning an automatic transmission would come at an extra credit cost with Hptuners.
This balances things out.
I will at some point, but rarely use custom OS's when I get a power adder to a corvette, but mostly be gas trucks.
Can someone refer me to a good HPtuners seller who also offer widebands? Also, added tune or support would be a good feature.
thanks a lot guys! Do appreciate the help.

I'd just buy it from HPTuners ($649) I think they sell a wide band on there also. They have their own forum, and many others have typed up their own tutorials.

I'll read this chart carefully. Hptuner doesn't offer widebands, their reseller does. I hread that some EFI resellers offer widebands at very good discounts and some with a free tune when you buy from them.

I went with EFILive V1 because it was cheaper and would do everything I needed. I haven't seen that chart before, if I had I probably would have gone with HP Tuners. The support for HP tuners seems to be MANY times greater than that for EFILive. On the EFILive forum there are literally only a half dozen guys or so that can/will answer your question. The EFILive tutorials are mostly outdated as well, and information is scattered and incomplete. It's very frustrating, but I've been learning slowly.
And if you haven't already, you can download trails of both and play around with them.

Whoever put that chart together skewed it to make HPT look better. It may be "technically" accurate, but there are some things in there that EFI Live can do, just not the exact way they have it listed. I also don't believe that the ECM support table for EFILive is correct. There are a lot of No's listed that I am 99% sure that EFILive does support. Maybe they are referring to the V1, not the V2?

*Denotes Limited Time pricing on V1 interface
The very bottom of the page.
They should do that with the the latest from them now to see what it looks like.
The V1 was limited quite a bit, but the V2 can do alot of vechicles.
I got EFI live back in 04? or 05? Then in 08? i was over at silvermodo's house and looking at the HPT software on his laptop and was completely lost haha..
but its all what you get use to.
i dont have any regrets with EFI Live. I use the V2 box for a stand along live data stream a pretty good bit.
