Default Injector Help

I decided to swap out my injectors to try and solve an issue I have been having and ran into a problem. The stock injectors were flex fuel (25326903) and I have some like new ones from a 6.0 (25317628). I pulled the flex fuels and went to install the 6.0s and noticed that the 6.0s are shorter than the flex fuel ones. I installed the fuel rails and the injector o-rings don't even seat into the manifold. I thought these injectors were interchangeable, what gives?

After more searching I found this thread where a guy had a similar issue and found it was because he had a different fuel rail: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...-5-3-a-494912/

I physically pulled this motor myself from a wrecked '03 Suburban that a soccer mom rolled (probably late for soccer practice). Wonder if the flex fuel motors have a different fuel rail to accommodate for the taller injectors? This is really starting to frustrate me...

P/N on fuel rail is 17202093

I did some more digging and answered my own question I guess. I searched for a while before posting with no luck, but stumbled upon some more info. I guess the flex motors do have a different fuel rail to account for the longer flex injectors.

Gotta love hours of work for no good. Guess it wouldn't be a fun hobby if that wasn't the case.

Anybody know a way to make this fuel rail work with the shorter injectors?

Yes. Their are some injector "extension" pieces that you can get. One place you can get them thru is FIC (Fuel Injector Connection) and their are a few other places as well. Haven't ever personally used them myself but I'd be willing to bet they'd work for you.
