HPT and Vac modulated trans
#1
My trans settings have gotten out of whack and I'm trying to figure out how they need to be fixed. The transmission is a Finish Line Level 5 4L65E with Sonnax servos and its vac modulated. How do the tables for line pressure, etc etc need to be setup since its now controlled by engine vac? Right now, its shifting out of first WAY too early and locking up early as well. In 3rd and in D both. In D it will lock up at about 33mph and un-lock about 3 seconds after that... then lock up again at about 43-44mph.
If anyone has screenshots or anything for me to look at with a similar setup let me know. I'd like to see how everyone else's is. The converter is a Yank SS3600 if anyone's curious or if it makes a difference.

My tranny did the same thing every single time i took off.
Wheatley then tuned it for me and he simply went in the upshift mph table and adjusted them so it woudn't kick into overdrive too early.
Basically the table was telling it to go into lockup at 29mph but it was supposed to shift into 4th at 33 so it pretty much confused the computer.
Your line pressure has no bareing"sp" on the tranny anymore as you can raise it lower it whatever and it Shoudn't effect it any with it being vac modded.

I know a lot of people zero out the presure tables when they go with vac modulation... I wonder if Vince or Chuck will chime in on this one since its one of their transmissions. When it shifts, its shifting fine... the timing is all wrong though. I thought about just loading a completely stock tune back into it and starting over since this one's been screwed with by W4Idiot performance....

All you control now are shift points, shift time to some extent and TCC lockup points. I don't have my tune stuff in front of me... I suggest goint to HPT site and getting an SS tune and loading in those tables to get it back to something right and work from there. It does sound like you have the TCC lockup table out of wack.
