Hp Tuners Question
#1
Ok a guy I know paid me $100 to take off his speed limiter with HPT so I did and he called me today and said he bought a diablo handheld (i advised a mailorder tune but oh well not my truck) he said it would not work because It had a HPT license on there so i put the stock tune back on the truck and it still dont work. Is there anyway to remove the HPT license for the truck?

Had a similar problem on my DMax just yesterday. I started out using Edge Evo and then went to an HPT tune and since I was selling my HPT I put the stock tune back in that I saved. Went to try and load the Evo again and ran into checksum errors. I had to update the Evo which said the tune was not a stock tune anymore.
Basically I was able to download a stock tune into the Evo from Edge's website which turned the Evo into a "Stockwriter" that uploaded a stock tune. Then I was able to load the normal Evo tunes fine.
I'm sure now if I try and tune it again with HPT it probably wouldn't work anymore but I'm not about to find out since my HPT is officially somebody else's.
