HO can't be tuned
#1
I am really upset. I asked nelson if they are able to give me a retune for my 80e swap. they say yes. i'm almost done with my 80e swap so i order the retune. i call a week later and i learn that my "B" engine code isn't supported from hp tuners yet or something like that. That's what nelson told me. Is this true? and wtf? my truck is sitting up cuz of this **** so i just have to wait around cuz they told me i could have it retuned and now i CANNOT have it retuned...

It's not about your vin being supported, we've already tuned your truck before. We told you we're having a hard time finding an 80E file with the same OS!
These special HO 5.3L engine calibrations are unique sometimes.
We simply said we're waiting for hptuners to send us an updated file.
We just got off the phone with you less than one hour ago, was there something we didn't answer? Did you think we lied to you?

Ahh sounds like a misunderstanding then. blackbeautysilverado, since the problem that Allen posted above is the case, you're going to run into the same problem regardless of who you use.
Allen - you might want to get in touch with 1SlowHoe, he had to build his own tune when he did his 80E swap. He had the same problem as you, couldn't find an OS that matched his with an 80E. I think he was using HPT also.

What 1SlowHoe found out, and maybe HPT already know this, but the os with the 80 segment doesn't need to have the same motor, just need to be the same OS. He couldn't find one with his os and motor with a 80, but found one with the same os as his and an 80, but was an 8.1 motor. Did the tranny segment swap from that os to his and worked just fine. :o)
Oh, and 1SlowHoe uses EFILive, it lets you do your own segment swaps
